Justina Repečkaitė is a composer in residence at Festival Cordes-sur-Ciel, which will take place from July 19-25, 2024. Her compositions Unbennant-2 (2016) will be performed by Quatuor Zaïde, Stalactite (2016) by pianist Iveta Calite, and Brocade (2023) by musicians from the ensemble Les Affranchi·e·s. Her new composition, written for contrabassoon, will be performed by Antoine Pecqueur and presented at “L'ATELIER de Justina Repečkaité” on July 21 at Théâtre Le Colombier. Eklekto, a contemporary percussion collective from Geneva, commissioned Justina Repečkaitė to compose for 4 percussion players and transducers. The premiere will take place on October 11, 2024 during the weekend celebrating the 50th anniversary of Eklekto, alongside a premiere by Adrien Trybucki.
Since her studies at Cursus Ircam 2019-2020, Justina Repečkaitė has continued her research on vibrational modes and the use of transducers. For her new piece for Eklekto, she explores phenomena of illusion while developing the idea of the sonic anamorphosis of different instruments.
Music Information Centre Lithuania is releasing Justina Repečkaitė's first album. Compositions that will appear in the album are reflective of the professional journey of the composer. Composed between 2012 and 2021 they encompass recordings made in the Baltic States, France and Germany.
Justina’s interest in medieval culture (“Chartres”, “La Cité des Dames”), crafts (“Tapisserie”, “Vellum”), charms (“Incantare”, “Datura”) and the physical models of instruments (“Transduced”, “Sturnus vulgaris cohibitus”) fully represent the composer’s body of work.

Justina Repečkaitė performed electronics for Pulsating Skin (2021) for 4 snare drums and electronics herself! This piece was premiered at Darmstadt Summer Course.
An inspiring video clip of Toro (2015) created by Tristan Scott, who also showcases his euphonium skills in the performance, he presents the piece: “It's a very exciting work for euphonium and electronics depicting a primal dance between two bulls, the performer and the electronics. To achieve bull-like noises, the piece features precisely notated multiphonics, effects, and other animalistic sounds. I hope you'll check it out!”
The “Residentuu:r” session with Justina Repečkaitė took place on the 3rd of May at Elutuba Lava Taga in the light of Ensemble U: concert (link for the livestream) where Justina Repečkaitė‘s Incantare for flute and tape was featured at the Natural History Museum of Tartu on May 4th, 2024 during the Baltic and Estonian Music Days festival.

Justina Repečkaitė’s composition La muë for serpent, children's choir and electronics will premiere on the 27th of April, 2024 at salle Espro, Ircam. Co-commissioned by IRCAM - Centre Pompidou and the Center of Baroque Music Versailles - CMBV, La muë uses the text of Samuel Auguste Tissot - Essai sur la muë de la voix (1754) - an essay on children’s voice change. In July, Justina started working at IRCAM with the computer music designer (RIM - réalisateur en informatique musicale) João Svidzinski. They recorded Patrick Wibart playing the serpent, a low-pitched early brass instrument, showing not only a traditional use of the instrument but also a technique of simultaneous singing and playing the instrument.
The Janus program — a new, innovative partnership between the CMBV and IRCAM —combines the French baroque repertoire and new works of 4 young European composers:
Justina’s composition "Datura," performed by the trombone player Mathilde Comoy, is now featured on the ensemble Ars Nova playlist 🔹MOSAÏQUE🔹 YouTube channel. This project commissions 1 composer to write around 1 minute composition for 1 musician.
Repečkaitė’s composition Vellum (2020) will be performed by Estonian National Symphony Orchestra under the baguette of Clement Power during at Baltic and Estonian Music Days on the 26th of April, 2024 in Tallinn and on the 28th of April, 2024 in Tartu. The latter will be live broadcasted by Klassikaraadio, LR3 Klasika, LRT Klasika and transferred across Europe through the EBU (European Broadcasting Union). Vellum will be performed again this year at Paris Philharmonic by Orchestra Pasdeloup.

Justina’s composition “Toro” (2015) for euphonium and tape will be performed at Euphonium Performance Senior Recital by Tristan Scott on April 25th at 7:30pm in Meadows Recital Hall, Baylor University, Waco, Texas.
On the 13th of April 2024 the pianist Zane Rubesa will perform Repečkaitė’s Sturnus vulgaris cohibitus (2020) as part of the unique program titled IN LOVE WITH LIBERTY. The program is consists of compositions by Baltic and Finnish woman composers: Justina Repečkaitė (1989), Linda Leimane (1987), Santa Ratniece (1977), Maria Kõrvits (1987) and Kaija Saariaho (1952-2023). Zane Rubesa’s recital will take place in Fabbrica del Vapore and is a part of Divertimento Ensemble season.

Justina Repečkaitė’s Cursus IRCAM composition Transduced (2020), for percussion, 3 transducers, and electronics was premiered by Yannick Monnot and filmed at the Center Pompidou. Since its creation, Transduced was performed by Romane Bouffioux in Colombia in 2022.
On February 11th, 2024 Justina’s composition Incantare (2018) for flute and tape will be performed by Tarmo Johannes in a concert Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam: Flute Solo & T R O M P O Ensemble at Plein Theater, Amsterdam. Tarmo Johannes first played an adapted version of Incantare in 2021 for bass flute during Baltic & Estonian Music Days. Co-commissioned by Le Balcon and Fondation Singer-Polignac Incantare was premiered in Paris by Claire Luquiens.
On February 11, 2024, Isotope Duo, Phil Pierick (sax) and Kyle Flens (perc), will give a US premiere of Repečkaitė’s Ciclo Continuo (2021) for saxophone and percussion at Constellation venue in Chicago.
Originally written for the Duo Dubois European tour More with less in 2021, Ciclo Continuo was later part of Astrus Duo European tour in 2023.
In January 2024, Repečkaitė’s composition Atropine for brass trio and electronics will be performed by International Ensemble Modern Academy students Jinhyoung Kim (trumpet), Robyn Blaire (horn), Noah Perkins (trombone) & Moritz Fischer (electronics) Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Atropine was premiered by Collegium Novum Zürich during Electrocution festival, Brest, France in 2022.

LENsemble Vilnius, conducted by Vykintas Baltakas, will perform Justina’s composition Tapisserie (2015) at the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in the concert Wie klingt Europa im 21. Jahrhundert?. The ensemble recorded Tapisserie, alongside another composition of Repeckaite - REM, in their album Contemporary Music Series: Lithuania in 2016 after performing these pieces in the festival Gaida the same year. Vykintas Baltakas also conducted Tapisserie performed by der/gelbe/klang at Schwere Reiter, Munich in 2022.

In spring 2023 Justina Repečkaitė is an artist-in-residence at Schloss Wiepersdorf, Germany. During her residency Justina works on her piece La Muë (text by Samuel-Auguste Tissot) for children’s choir & electronics, co-commissioned by the Baroque Music Center of Versailles and IRCAM for the Janus project, to be premiered both at IRCAM and at the Royal Chapel of the Palace of Versailles in 2024. Recently, at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, an American pianist Robert Fleitz defended his Master thesis “Microtonality in works for solo piano: Three case studies in the Baltic keyboard repertoire”. Fleitz discusses 3 compositions for piano written by Baltic composers: Santa Ratniece (1977) – In Love with Liberty (2016), Liisa Hirsch (1984) – Quantum Well (2020) and Justina Repečkaitė (1989)- Sturnus vulgaris cohibitus (2020).
Justina Repeckaite’s composition Cries (2023) will be performed during the French tour of the project 50/50 by the Sequenza 9.3 vocal ensemble (cond. Catherine Simonpietri) and a harpist Sandrine Chatron (Trio Polycordes) alongside pieces by Carol Robinson (1956), Claude Barthelemy (1956) and Fabien Cali (1983).
Repeckaite’s piece Acupuncture (2014) was performed again by the Ensemble for New Music Tallinn conducted by Arash Yazdani at the music festival Ars Musica held in Belgium since 1989.
